Liz formed Liz Amos Associates in 2008 having, since 2004, developed the Public Sector/Not-for-Profit and Board practice at Carbon. Previously, she was with Heidrick & Struggles where she started her search career in 2002. The work Liz has led covers a broad spectrum of organisations and functions, including, for example, work at Tate, BALTIC, Imperial College, Henley Management College, APACS, City & Guilds, for the Clore Duffield Foundation and the Prince’s Charities. She has also worked for ‘for profit businesses’ including BP (where she worked on HR assignments), for Barclays in the Pensions field and in the education field for Nord Anglia plc and for Private Equity backed businesses including Alpha Plus Group, WCLS and Cambridge Education Group.

Prior to search, she was Director of the Council for Excellence in Management and Leadership, an initiative set up by two Government departments to make recommendations to improve the UK’s leadership capacity. Before that she established a think-tank for manufacturing industry which is now the core of the Institute of Manufacturing at the University of Cambridge.

Previously she held a number of senior roles at the CBI, including Director of Regions and Smaller firms in the early 1990s. In the voluntary and HE sector, she has been a trustee and advisor to several organisations. She is currently a member of the Employers Panel for the National Skills Academies. Liz has a degree in history from Bristol University followed by research at Cambridge.
